What do you think of this new BEYONCE track? .. loads and loads of post production sslick editing effects but generally a very tasteful and stylish use of locations, costume, mise en scen etc.. could it inspire your projects ??

Think about what we were syaing about creativity as well and how you need inspiration fomr all sorts of different sources.. a lot of the Beyonce video is influenced by ballet from the 1990s ! (see vid below)

And finally someone has edited together the work of the initial choreographer with Beyonce's Song .. you cant deny the influences here really ... is Beyonce stealing ideas or just using her wide ranging knowledge of the arts to give us all some great entertainment ?

Alright guys here is what i want you to do.....

Embed 4 different TV adverts onto your blog and explain why you like them.

Use websites such as adsoftheworld.com or visit4info.com or even just youtube..

Then try and find 3 print adverts you liek and put them on your blog with an explanation of why you like them.

Magazine Anlysis Coursework: Teacher Feedback

Alright guys i have just marked your coursework and here are some major findings as not all of you are getting the kind of marks you shoudl be getting....

A lot of you got a big fat 0 because you didnt do it ... thats obviously your fault and i cant help yuou .. so there !

But a lot of people were telling the examiner things they already know .. for instance.. a common thing was to say something like " the sell lines are on the front cover to help sell the magazine" (the examiner is a clever person they know all about magazine covers you dont need to help them as if they were a 5 year old!)

or "the masthead is red this is to make people buy the magazine" (why would just red make people want to buy a magaizne?)

Some people in the group even felt that their first piece of coursework was the appropriate place to tell complete strangers who they thought were the sexiest celebs in the world1!! One person wrote "he is on the front cover because he is handsome and he is my ideal boyfriend"! (We dont care .. get on with actual analysis!)

Dont worry i will explain these points in detail this week ! Well done to most of you though a solid start !

Right then ...... you lot have been AMAZING this half term (begfriend!!) ... no seriously. Think of all teh things you have done.. blogging / airbrushing / learning about lots of different areas of the media....

Now on your blog you need to have:

A paragraph or two about the start you have made this year. Have you enjoyed Media Studies ? What would you like to see more of ? and anything you have learned .

I also want you to post up your finished film poster.

and finally i want you to post up a beofre and after photo (not of yourself) but of a celebrity that has been airbrushed. Underneath the airburshed one you must say what effects you have done to it.

If you have finished all taht then i want you to make a poster in the style of Scarface ... but of yourself !!!! IF YOU DO THIS YOU ARE OFFICIALLY A MEDIA PRODUCTION GANGSTA !!!

29/9/10: Yr 10 Blogging Task

Wow your blogs are looking good and you should all know how to post up some words and maybe even a sentence or two, insert pictures, embed videos and follow each others blogs. Some of you even know how to design your layouts and add widgets. So thats a lot of stuff you have done so far. Well done.

Today i would ilke you to comment on 3 other yr 10 students' blogs. Positive comments please.

Also the main task is this :

Create a CD COVER

1. Generate a name for your band by using WikiPedia's random page selector tool, and using the first article title on whichever page pops up. No matter how weird or lame that band name sounds.

2. Generate an album title by cutting and pasting the last four words of the final quote on whichever page appears when you click on the quotationspage's random quote selector tool. No matter what those four words turn out to be.

3. Finally, visit Flickr's Most Interesting page -- a random selection of some of the interesting things discovered on Flickr within the last 7 days -- and download the third picture on that page. Or seeing as Flickr is blocked at our school... use this link and find a random picture from that random selection...

Then put all 3 things into photoshop and anyone who can manage to get that posted onto their blog by the end of the lesson gets 3 commendations
